Welcome to Spiceland (Uffculme) Quakers.

Quakers, who are more formally known as the Religious Society of Friends, were founded in 1652 by George Fox. The Society is rooted in Christianity, but Members, known as Friends, are open to the light from wherever it may come. Friends seek to live out our principles of truth, peace, simplicity and equality, recognising that of God in everyone.

Our beautiful, historic Meeting House, near the village of Uffculme, Mid Devon, serves a wide area with many Quakers (Friends) living in the surrounding towns and villages.

We meet every Sunday at 10.30am for a one hour Meeting for Worship, followed by "Afterword" and Notices. "Afterword" is a period during which anyone present can talk about any thoughts they may have had during the meeting, even though they did not feel prompted to speak during the hour's Worship. This experience can often be uplifting. There are then refreshments.

We also meet on the third Tuesday of each month at 2:00pm for half an hour at the beautiful John Waldron Chapel in Tiverton. Refreshments and reflections follow at the nearby Old Heathcoat School.

We're easy to find. The Meeting House is east of the village of Uffculme. From the village square, keep to the top left side of the square (towards schools) and go straight on to end of village, then take the right fork. It is then a mile to the Meeting House on the right hand side of the road. [Grid reference ST0831714058. What three words - registers.superhero.hardening.] We are trying to reduce our carbon footprint so if you would like to lift share to a Meeting please email contact@spicelandquakers.org.uk.

Spiceland is a Local Meeting and, although in Devon, it is part of the larger West Somerset Area Quaker Meeting (WSAQM). [Charity No.1155009 / WSAQM Account 2 CAF Bank, Account 00022653 Sort Code 40-52-40]
